WUSSYWussy have been heralded as “The best band in America” by meta critic Robert Christgau, which is a scary prospect for any band to live up to, but Cincinnatti’s Wussy do their darnedest. Not one, but two great singer songwriters complimenting each other on guitar and vocals over a pulsating thrum of drone-shoegazey spikey rock with more hooks than a Pirate Armada. Wussy are presently seeing radio play from Gideon Coe and Marc Riley on BBC6Music and their Marc Riley session streams here Formed in 2001 when Chuck Cleaver (formerly of Cincinnati’s quite famous and Warner signed Ass Ponys) and Lisa Walker (also performs solo as the Magic Words) began playing together as a result of Cleaver’s stage fright when asked to perform a brief run of solo shows. They released five albums on Shake It Records in the US and Damnably releases ‘Buckeye’, a 17 song best of compilation this July in the UK and throughout Europe via Shellshock/IODA.

AMERICAN WEREWOLF ACADEMY
American Werewolf Academy are a band based on the unashamed principles of pop. The band’s influences range from 60s pop, 70s power pop, post punk to bubblegum rock. Favorite bands of AWA include Roky Erickson, Guided By Voices, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Kinks, Cheap Trick, The New Pornographers, and R.E.M. This trio hail from Dallas, Texas USA and release unique and fun, high energy, Monster-themed Rock Music! Now it’s time to share these guys with the world, and Damnably released an Electric Blue 7″ single of The Hop/The Kid Stays In The Picture, and the album Everything Is All Right So Far in November 2011 with a new Worldwide release planned for September 2012 to coincide with the tour.
Press/reviews:
Blurt (USA) “Texas grows great musicians like it grows shitty presidential candidates, but American Werewolf Academy manage to stand out in a highly competitive music scene populated by talented musicians. Just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with this band.” Rolling Stone (DE) “Melodic, joyous and romantic tumbling rock and roll, as if the Cars (as, in the band) were in the garage next door. Always at the top end of their game, the three from Dallas play their staggering Power-Pop. Everything is alright so far!”

Smallgang
Post-punk trio formed around half Japanese brothers Toshi and Simon Kobayashi, with drummer Matt Atkins (x-Huge Baby). They combine the best bits of smog, Dinosaur Jr, and Joy Division, and are much loved by BBC 6 Music’s Gideon Coe. Previously a quartet, the has reduced in size, but not in sound. http://www.damnably.com/smallgang/
The MAGIC WORDS
Lisa Walker from Wussy has a side project called The Magic Words. Shake It records released an 8 track cassette called Junk Train a few years ago, featuring incredible songs such as Loaded for Bear and Jonah and Lisa has a bunch more songs of a hazy languid beauty. This is the debut European performance of The Magic Words.
